This program is a workshop where you can experience the techniques used in traditional Japanese architecture such as the replacing shoji paper（paper sliding door）, The Japanese plastering and the Making a traditional Japanese dirt floor etc…

You can learn authentic techniques directly from traditional construction artisan!

What To Expect

Lecture and workshop on traditional architecture

The wisdom of making the best use of natural materials such as wood, grass and earth. The harvesting and reuse of materials with an eye to periodic conservative restoration. And the attainment of harmony and unity between wooden parts. Traditional architectural techniques in Japan were transmitted from antiquity together with the nation’s architectural heritage and further developed through creative efforts.

You can learn their technique from traditional construction artisan.

Lunch (Sushi rolls with local vegetables)

We offer sushi rolls, which are a standard Japanese festival dish. You can make your own original sushi rolls using local fresh vegetables! 

Small snack (Roasted sweet potato)

The roasted sweet potato is simple street snack in autumn/winter. During the DIY work, the staff will roast sweet potatoes in the garden, so you can see the process of making them.

見どころ

古民家や伝統構法に関するレクチャーとワークショップ

古来より続く自然素材を活かす伝統の技と知恵が詰まった古民家。本プログラムではそれら伝統構法について学び、職人から直接それらテクニックを学ぶことができます。

地元食材を堪能するランチ

新鮮な地元野菜などを使用した巻き寿司をご自身で作っていただきます。地域住民の方も参加しますので、地域についていろいろとお話をすることができます。

焼き芋体験

DIY会場のお庭でスタッフが焼き芋を焼きます。DIYの後は出来立ての焼き芋を食べながら、参加者同士、職人たちと交流を深めます。
